Radiant Imaging’s PM-KB is an integrated system that combines application specific software and a PM-Series™ Imaging Colorimeter to perform rapid, automated inspection of back-illuminated keyboards and keypads for character luminance and chromaticity, and overall keyboard luminance and color uniformity.

Designed for high-speed, high flexibility use in a production environment

PM-KB is a testing front-end application that is designed specifically for use in high volume production environments. The PM-KB system enables an administrator or engineer to define a complete set of measurement conditions and pass/fail criteria for specific points of interest on the keyboard or keypad. Supported pass/fail criteria include: (1) the total number of allowed individual character failures; (2) the minimum luminance uniformity between characters; and (3) the maximum color difference between characters (when color is measured). Different keyboard models are stored individually and can be recalled to simplify switching between multiple models.

For use in production, PM-KB is run in operator mode, which presents a simple, easy-to-use interface for use by the operators on the production line, with simple test initiation commands and pass/fail indications. PM-KB can be set-up to record device barcodes as part of the testing process and to generate test reports.

To simplify operations where multiple keyboard or keypad models might be used, PM-KB maintains a database of keyboard models and their associated points-of-interest and pass/fail criteria definitions.

Multiple system configuration options allow tailoring PM-KB to specific testing needs

Because PM-KB application software will run with any model of PM-Series Imaging Colorimeter, multiple options are available to achieve the pixel resolution, dynamic range, and cost required for the application.

Also available from Radiant Imaging for this application is a special purpose Calibrated Light Source to ensure measurement consistency from production line to production line and location to location.
