Radiant Imaging Products

Radiant Imaging Products

The industry’s broadest line of luminance and color imaging solutions for R&D, production, and in-field applications

Radiant Imaging provides the industry’s broadest line of imaging systems for measuring brightness and color. Our products include (1) a full line of Imaging Photometers and Colorimeters, with multiple choices for pixel resolution, bit depth, and price points; (2) Source Imaging Goniometers and (3) Imaging Spheres which control the spatial relationship between the imaging colorimeter and the device under test, available in configurations optimized for specific applications; and (4) Application Software and Systems that provide complete solutions for complex, repetitive measurement and analysis tasks, and (5) measurements services.

These Radiant Imaging products enable the measurement and characterization of a wide variety of light emitting devices, such as light sources, lamps, LEDs, luminaires, flat panel displays, projection systems, instrument panels, and lit keypads and keyboards. In addition, our Imaging Sphere product line includes systems for measuring the reflection and transmission performance of almost any material.

Radiant Imaging recognizes that photopic and colorimetric data is becoming much more important in many phases of our customer’s business operations, so we have designed systems that can be used in R&D to reduce development time and cost, in production to ensure outgoing (or incoming) product quality and to streamline production processes, and in-field to validate or optimize system performance on-site thereby increasing delivered product value.

Radiant Imaging also provides measurement and field services spanning all of the capabilities described above. This enables our measurement customers to benefit from our state of the art luminance and color measurement technology for specific projects. It also means that Radiant Imaging is able to use our experience as a user of our systems to inform our product design, to improve our system’s ease of use and reliability, and to understand new technology requirements from our customer’s point of view.

Imaging Photometers and Colorimeters

PM Series™ Imaging Colorimeters and Photometers are highly accurate, CCD-based camera systems designed for making precise, spatial measurements of luminance and chromaticity. PM Series imaging colorimeters are available in four different versions, each appropriate for specific applications to R&D and production for the measurement of light sources, information displays, and other light emitting, reflecting or transmitting materials.

Light Source Characterization

Radiant Imaging’s Source Imaging Goniometers are fully automated, computer-controlled goniometric systems that use a PM-Series imaging colorimeter or photometer to capture a precise model of a light source’s near-field output. The resulting image data and the Radiant Source Model™ generated from it provide a complete and precise characterization of the light source output that can be examined in Radiant Imaging’s ProSource® software and exported as a ray set to any major optical design package to allow accurate design of lighting systems via Radiant Imaging’s ProSource® software. The Source Imaging Goniometers are available in various configurations to address R&D and engineering measurement requirements for almost any type of light source, from LED die to high power arc lamps.

Imaging Spheres

Imaging Spheres use a novel optical configuration to allow simultaneous imaging of a target device or material from all directions on a hemisphere at once. This results in faster, more complete, and often more accurate measurements than can be achieved with traditional goniometric solutions. A PM Series™ imaging colorimeter (or photometer) is used to capture the image data, ensuring the high accuracy in measurement. The Imaging Sphere can be configured for measurement of far field luminous intensity distributions for LEDs and other small light sources, display view angle performance, or the angular distribution of scattered light from surfaces (both BRDF and BTDF). The Imaging Sphere system is ideal for both research and production applications for LEDs, FPDs, display components and optical material analysis.

Application Specific Software

Radiant Imaging’s application specific solutions are specialized software packages — combined in some cases with specialized hardware — that are used together with our PM Series™ Imaging Colorimeters to efficiently accomplish specialized testing and calibration tasks in R&D, production line, or in-field environments. Systems are available for

  • Production test sequencing for flat panel and projection displays
  • Quality control and characterization of OLED displays
  • Calibrating LED video modules and screens
  • Measuring uniformity and contrast as a function of viewing angle for FPDs
  • Quality control of illuminated keypads and keyboards, and more.

Radiant Imaging’s software expertise allows us to modify the user interface or to add testing capabilities as required for your specific applications.
